who is more disappointing Peyton Manning or the Atlanta Braves

For the record, I think that both Peyton Manning and the Atlanta Braves have nothing to be ashamed of.  Both have put themselves in position to win titles.  Both have one world series ring since 1995. Both have dominated their divisions and leagues for many years. Manning is going to re-write the record books before he is done. The Braves have won the National League east an astounding number of times I think they have won 15 division titles since 1991, including this year. Chipper Jones is as tragic a hero as Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning's teams have won 12 division titles, and lost in the first round or game 8 times. He has one super bowl ring. Who is more disappointing?  In my opinion the answer is the Atlanta Braves.
Peyton Manning has had terrible games in the post season. He would lose to Tennessee in his first playoff game, he would lose to Miami in his next one and then his worse loss was against the Jets and they lost 41-0. The New England Patriots always seemed to have his number.  Hew would put up video game number during the regular season and looked lost and confused in playoff games. He had great players on his offense. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne are hall of Famers.  Edgerin James was efficient and reliable as anyone.  Dallas Clark and Marcus Pollard made a lot of plays for him.  They did not have a great defense.  Dwight Freeney was unblockable during the regular season, but in the playoffs was often a non factor. They had could never get a consistent pass rush or stop the opponents running game. Peyton is often blamed for his teams failures because he would throw a late interception or multiple interceptions in games. Fair or not the quarterback either gets too much credit for good thing or too much blame for bad things. i think he should be appreciated just for getting their. Several great players never got to the super bowl or won a playoff game. Barry Sanders never was as spectacular in the playoffs as he was in the regular season.  Didnt the packers hold him to negative yardage in a playoff game? In fact I dont think he won more than one playoff in a game in his career if at all.  O.J. Simpson ran wild in the NFL no post season legacy to speak of. Dan Fouts lit up every team in the NFL in his brilliant hall of fame career, no rings to show for it.
The Atlanta Braves are tragic and here is why.  They dominated everyone. They out pitched everyone.  They would win games that were insurmountable more than anyone. They matched up well with everyone. Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz Avery, Alejandro Pena, Mark Wohlers, John Rocker, embarrassed everyone. They lost to the Yankeees after dominating them in earlier games. They lost to the Twins who had only Jack Morris as an imposing pitcher. They lost to Toronto who had Winfield and Molitor. The Braves were favored in all of these series. They had a superstar laden lineup. They could beat you with a speed game with Otis Nixon or power game with Gant and Justice. Glavine Smoltz, Maddux, and Chipper Jones are first ballot hall of Famers. What puzzles me about their lack of success is the baseball adage of momentum is the next day starting pitcher.  The Braves threw four top of the line starters at teams each night. They put teams in slumps with their dominance. They never had a team that they dreaded playing. The Colts season was always based on whether they beat the Patriots. When they would win people thought that they could win the title.  when they lost people would say same sorry ass Colts.  The Braves were always the hunted. They had no peer. They just simply could not win. Teams would bleed their starting pitching for 8 innings and get to their bullpen and beat them late quite often.  The Yankees, Blue jays, and Twins had memorable world series wins in the late innings to sting the Braves.  Jim Leyritz name is a sore subject down south.  Kirby Puckett and Dane Iorg dramatics in Minnesota. Dave Winfield, Kelly Gruber. Ernie Witt.  Tom Heinke stifled the bats of the Braves in world series. The Braves had more heart breaking losses than anyone.
I am sure anyone would love to be Peyton Manning or Chipper Jones or Greg Maddux because of their brilliance on the field. However the lack of rings will always haunt these guys. All great players and great teams.  Unfortunately we are all judged by wins and chips. Both only have one in the last 20 years. The Braves are more tragic because they had no peer. They had reservations to be in the playoffs every year and just got beat when you least expected it.  W e all knew that Peyton would throw that pick or we all knew that Peyton wouldn't come through.  He only did it once. We all were shocked when the Braves would fail in the post season. They had everything...

The weakest two divisions in the NFL are..

The weakest 2 divisions in the NFL this season will be the AFC South and the NFC West.  Both of these divisions have one super team and three other teams trying to find themselves.  The 49ers and Texans have super aspirations based what they accomplished last year and what they did in the off season to prove that last year was not a fluke. The Niners made it to the championship game and played the Giants as tough as any team could.  The weather and an unfortunate fumble in overtime ended their dreams of a super bowl.  They have added Randy Moss, Brandon Jacobs, LeMicheal james to give weapons to Alex Smith which should compliment their stellar defense. Houston played the second half of the seaon with an injured Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub, Mario Williams, and even Arian Foster.  They lost backup quarterback Matt Leinart and used T.J. Yates as quarterback who guided them to the playoffs. Leinart and Williams are no longer on the team but Schaub and Johnson are ready to lead this team back to the post season.  Theyhave a lot of nobody's on this extremely talented defense and if the run the ball like they have over the past 2 seasons with Foster, this team could be in New Orleans come Super sunday.  The Texans could end up with home field advantage because of a weak schedule and soft division. The Niners will have Green Bay, New York, and New Orleans to fight for home field. Lets look at the other teams in the two divisions.
The AFC south is trying to look to the future.  The Jags, Colts and Titans are all staring first or second year quarterbacks.  The Colts have Andrew Luck and he looks amazing.  He has poise, confidence, and ability that I have never seen in a rookie qb.  The problem they have is that they are going to waste the first half of the season learning how to protect him and developing a running game.  The Colts gutted the franchise.  They have quality players, including Reggie Wayne, but the running game has to become a priority until Luck can lead them to victories.  The Defense will be new and on the field alot. I think they will surprise a few teams.
Tennessee has the running back, a star receiver in the making, but the defense, and quarterback position could be a liability.  I liked Locker in college but he would be great against USC, but then go 4/20 against Nebraska.  He is not consistent yet.  Chris Johnson went from a 2,000 yard back to almost out of the league in two years.  He has to carry thi team like Barry Sanders and I dont think he can.  The defense can stop the run. They get passed on a lot.  Coach Munchak has to address this or they will have a tough season ahead.
Jacksonville needs to give Blaine Gabbert his courage pills before each game. He looked brave in his first two preseason games so maybe he is ready to shake off the "soft" label he has.  They need Maurice Jones Drew in camp asap. I like Justin Blackmon as a receiver and thought he was the best prospect in the draft.  He has freakish speed and size. Just throw him the ball and he will deliver. This team will improve from last year when in tact but that remains to be seen if that will actually happen.
The NFC west is only slightly better.  Seattle is enbroiled in quarterback battle.  Matt Flynn just signed a big deal to be the guy but he is getting challenged big time by Russell Wilson who isnt your typical rookie. He is just"short". They signed T.O. and he can still play the game and get open.  Lynch can run as well.  Their problem is inconsistency on offense and defensively they do not cover well or tackle.  This team last year played a lot of close games but could not get off the field in third down situations. They were so tired probably because the offense struggled at times in all games and then got hot and had to stage comebacks.  Pete Carrill must have a strong heart to put up with style of football.
Arizona has weapons everywhere.  They can score with anyone but like Seattle they play the game in stretches and not consistnt football. They have 2 quarterbacks which means they have none.  Jon Skelton is going to win the job because Kevin Kolb is either hurt or trying to force the ball somewhere.  Hand the ball off to oft injured Beany Wells and maybe they can eliminate their mistakes.  Their defense is fast and aggressive. They just don't have size to stop most running teams.  They can cover and their special teams will snipe you if you allow them.  Patrick Petersen is the real deal.  Need stability at the qb position to compete with niners.
St.Louis has a quarterback with confidence issues.  If Sam Bradford can play like he did during his rookie season, the Rams could be fun to watch. Steven Jackson is the most feared back in the league, but teams are willing to let him run because they the Rams will bog down somehow. This year is a big one Bradford.  He needs to legitimize being a 60 million dollar man. They have a decent core of receivers. I think they should have made a play for Blackmon but they chose who they did.  Defensively, the Rams get aftre the quarterback as good as anyone.  They just don't cover very well.  The way you hide your deficiency in your secondary is by putting the opposing quarterback on his back.  In that stadium, with that noise, they should be able to do that with more consistency.  We shall see..
The outlook for the teams:  San Fran: 12-4, Seattle: 7-9, Arizona:6-10, St.Louis: 5-11
The outlook for the teams:  Houston: 14-2, Indy: 5-11, Jacksonville: 4-12, Tennesse: 2-14.
Player to watch in NFC west: Alex Smith..( was last year a fluke?)
Player to watch in AFC south: Andrew Luck.. The future starts now..
Both divisions will be great in 2 years.

reason 5 the Saints will win... Intangibles

What is an Intangible? An in tangible is something that is undefined. It is that certain "je ne c'est pas" that a team or a player has. An intangible is something that one cannot explain but some how or some way we all know what a person is talking about. The Colts are a very up front in your face type of team.. They win because Peyton Manning. That is it. They have no running game, a defense that bends but does not break, and a non existent special team. They have won 7 games in the fourth quarter due to Manning and his ability to finish. That is why he won league M.V.P. over Brees and Favre. When you play the Colts, you know what you are going to get and you must find a way to stop them. The Jets had the plan but played way too conservative to keep the plan going. If the Saints have an 11 point lead in the game, I guarantee you they will go for more. They wont turn around and give ball to the back and try not to lose the game. The Saints are explosive in any quarter and in any game. Think back to the Dolphin game this season. Brees threw interceptions and the Saints were down by 18 points at one point in the first half. They outscored the Dolphins 43-14 from the 2 minute warning till the end of the game!!!! That is insane!!!In the game against the Redskins they were down big as well and it looked like they were finished and then they come back to win the game when the kicker misses a 20 plus yard field goal!!! The Cowboy game though they lost, the kicker from the Cowboys missed a chip shot kick and gave the Saints the ball and a chance. They are built for this moment. They put 4 guys over 6 feet and say split the seams and force your safeties to cover them. Bill Bellichick, the defensive guru of the league said that this team is unstoppable. They could have scored 50 on the Patriots if he hadn't called off the dogs. Look at the Vikings game, the Saints did not play a great offensive game but forced 5 turnovers and found a way to win against the Vikings. The only reason the Saints are not favored is that they played poorly in the Championship game. Had they won 44-21 the would have been favored in this game. They make plays to win games and they will show that on Sunday.
I am amazed at how much the world loves Peyton Manning. It reminds of something that I heard throughout the college football season. Every week we kept hearing about how great Tim Tebow was. How he is the greatest college player ever and that if he has the ball in the fourth quarter, the Gators would be unbeatable. Then Alabama shut all of that nonsense up with tough defense and a running attack that the unbeatable Gators could not stop. Tebow and Manning have a ton in common in terms of leadership. Just as the 'Bama players got sick hearing about Tebow, the saints players are probably sick of hearing about Peyton Manning. The Saints scored 510 points this year. Not the Colts. The Saints played six similar opponents to the Colts and beat all of them by double digits except the Rams!!!! Think about that for a second. They defeated the Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Patriots, Cardinals, and Rams. The Colts are a great team and should have gone for the perfect season. They ended up getting hurt in the playoffs anyway. Freeney is not going to be a factor in this game for a full four quarters. If I was the Saints I would run the ball right at him and make sure that he spends the entire game on his ass looking up at the sky.
The City of New Orleans is owed a day other than Fat Tuesday to celebrate. Saints 41- Colts 28.
